Abby + Ian // Thornewood Castle Wedding // Tacoma Wedding Photographer

Blog Home

They met while living in Washington. Ian’s Dad lived in Alaska and convinced him to move there. Ian then convinced Abby to head to Alaska too. So, she did! They fell in love, hard, and although they love Alaska, they decided to have their wedding in their home state, close to family and friends! The amazing thing about the high-tech world that we live in, is that Abby found me, a Washington photographer, while she was living in ALASKA! Ahh, I really love technology. Thank you Google, and the Knot, for connecting us!

I can remember daydreaming about my wedding day as a little girl. It was everything I dreamed it would be when it came to real life. I wonder if Abby dreamt she’d ever get married in a CASTLE! Yes, I said that right, a CASTLE! Thornewood Castle is seriously out-of-this-world enchanting, romantic and a far better word than beautiful, I just can’t think of one at this very moment! It was brought to Lakewood, Washington piece by piece from England by a Groom to his bride. Over 100 years ago the Groom purchased the Castle, had it completely dismantled and sent it to Washington as a labor of love to his Bride. Can we say romantic? Every inch of Thornewood is full of charm and history. Love love history!

Abby’s family and friends put together her sweet bouquets of fresh tulips, as well as her gorgeous wedding cake! Her dress was nothing short of jaw-dropping, complete with POCKETS! (so cool!). She gifted her bridesmaids the cutest Toms ever, and the girls dressed in uniquely different dresses all in beautiful shades of gray. Viral Booth had the best props at the photo booth(highly recommend them) & their catering was oh-so-delicious. The best part? Spring in Washington was out in FULL FORCE and the temperatures topped 71! Their ceremony took place at 5pm, leaving me the perfect lighting for their family, bridal and couples photos. I loved everything about Abby and Ians wedding at Thornewood Castle. It was a great way to kick off the 2013 wedding season. Abby & Ian, I’m honored that you chose me to be your photographer! Enjoy my favorites of Abby and Ian’s special day!
